Blackheath Church - mural restoration
Grant - £10,000
THE aim of the project is to restore and conserve unique wall paintings by the Victorian artist, Anna Lea Merritt, before they suffer irreparable damage.
Anna Lea Merritt was a pioneering artist with connections to pre-Raphaelite and Arts & Crafts movements, and the first woman to have work bought for the Tate Collection.
The grant was used to deal with damp-related issues in the church, other fund raising has taken place and the restoration work is now underway.
