New surround for Shere swimming pool

Grant - £15,000

SHERE'S outdoor pool is an historic one, which has been run since 1989 by volunteer members who took over at a point when Shere Parish Council could no longer afford to continue with its maintenance. The surround to the pool comprises concrete slabs which have over time settled unevenly, creating a trip hazard.

The problem has previously been minimised using concrete filler but, with the problem worsening, the club now wants to tackle the problem on a more permanent basis by demolishing and reconstructing the surround. The club has 450 “memberships” drawn from the villages of Shere, Albury, Abinger, Gomshall, Holmbury, and Peaslake. With guests, usage is estimated at 1,300 people.
